About Santorini

Santorini is among the most popular Cycladic islands in the Aegean sea. It was severely devastated by an enormous volcanic eruption in 16th century BC, transforming its rocky landscape forever. The whitewashed, rectangular houses of the two main towns, Oia and Fira, cling precariously to crumbling cliffs over an underwater caldera. They stand overlooking the turquoise sea, lush seaside islands to the east and tiny white, red and black lagoons.

Santorini is probably one of the most beautiful islands in Greece. The island is perfect for a relaxing holiday, with its pristine beaches, idyllic location, white sandy beaches and crystal clear blue sea. It has got the best weather and climate anywhere on earth, including that of your own home. However, in many ways it's also not quite as 'perfect' as you might imagine. For instance, if you want to go on Santorini holidays then you may need to consider a few things before you decide to take that cruise, go parasailing or just lie on the beach and drink the sun's rays in.

One can go to Santorini during summer if they wish. The island is not only an ideal holiday spot for the rest of the year, but the climate is suitable for most types of holiday, whether it is relaxing on the beach or enjoying the tranquility of the island's many historical sites. A visit to the Santorini Museum is a must for anyone who is interested in classical culture, art and history. The Santorini Opera House is also a must visit, especially if it is being held during the summer season. But the best time to visit Santorini in the summer months is from April and May. The sun, the sand, and the breeze make this a wonderful destination for anyone looking for a beach break. If you like to go to Santorini in a group, it is possible to book a guided tour on the island so that you can explore all the attractions at the same time.

Holidays in Santorini are usually a lot cheaper than other places, which is why many holiday makers stay in the hotels. The hotels are close to the beach, so you don't have to travel a long distance to go to the beach and enjoy it. You don't even have to leave the hotel to enjoy the beaches. They are close to the airport, so there is no need to spend money getting to and from the beach.

Activities

Holiday makers who are spending some time in Santorini can also take part in a number of activities such as mountain climbing, rock climbing, hiking, horse riding, rafting and skiing.

Food

If you are an adventurous type then you could go on a food adventure with Santorini and experience the exotic flavors of the island. This would be an exciting trip for you as this place offers food to please any kind of palate. It is also very affordable.

The best thing about food at Santorini is the variety of it. So many dishes that I would love to try would include Feta Kouloumades, Teriyaki Chicken, Greek salad and Greek yogurt. So, I have put together a list of the best food that you must try at least twice when you come here.

Fava Kouloumades: This dish is served at almost every restaurant in Santorini. It is very popular with locals and tourists alike. They are fried potatoes filled with Greek yogurt and topped with sliced tomatoes, olives and fresh basil. It is topped with cheese and pita bread. You will never get tired of eating it. There are a few places that sell it fresh from the oven. Some people use it on their salads and others make theirs with feta.

Fenugreek Salad: This is a traditional dish in Greece, but not just anywhere in the world. It is a salad made from chopped fenugreek leaves with various other vegetables like cucumber, tomatoes, mint and dill. It can be served with bread and has a unique taste that will make you want to eat more.

Greek salad: You will find marinated artichoke hearts, cucumbers, radishes, tomatoes, mint, olive oil and fresh lemon on the salad plate. Then, dip it in olive oil with chopped pita and spread on it with croutons. After serving, you will get a dessert made from fresh fruits. If you really like to eat the salad, you can eat it plain or with yoghurt and honey.

All in all, going to Santorini is always great fun and something that you should do if you ever get the chance to visit this place. You will not regret your decision at all. So, if you get a chance to visit Santorini now, do so to experience the wonderful food of the island and experience the beautiful island atmosphere.
